Spitty Up Partner

A blog about the joys and frustrations of having a child with reflux.

So I'm feeling a bit sheepish about my recent complaints about baby girl's reflux to a co-worker who has a child with many more challenges than I'm having.  In fact I just emailed her to apologize for my unthoughtful and unsympathetic words cause I'm sure she was thinking: just get over it, it could be something actually serious you had to deal with!!
But on the other hand, it is also something that has been a constant, ongoing struggle for me to deal with since she was born.  It is unpleasant smelling, it makes a mess out of everything, and now that she is eating adult food, it smells like adult throw up, which is really, really gross.  My carpets are stained, her clothes need bleaching almost every wear, and I'm growing weary of this whole thing... Even her darling long hair (which everyone comments on) while cute, it also requires a bath just about every time she spits up as it gets in there too.
I've been taking baby girl to the chiropractor to see if there was a non-medicinal avenue we could try to help with her reflux.  While I've seen drastic improvements in her spitting up, she unfortunately is at the age where she is constantly pulling herself up to stand and then falls down, which quickly knocks herself back out of alignment and she starts spitting again.  Oh, how I wish we had known about the chiropractor sooner...  how many months was she just laying there or sitting there or at least not pulling herself up?  Oh, about 8 1/2.... My suggestion to you is if you have a baby with reflux, try the chiropractor BEFORE they are 9 months old and mobile and able to undo all the good things the chiropractor can do for them!  I did get a recommendation to dry Colic Calm.  It is a specific brand of gripe water that the chiropractor recommended that has been very helpful for some refluxy babies.  I'm going to try it when she wakes up from her nap.  I've tried different brands of gripe water and seen no improvements for the reflux (it did help for hiccups) so I'm skeptical to say the least, but at this stage, I'm willing to try anything if it helps the baby keep the food where it's supposed to be and not all over my shirt, the carpet, her clothing, etc!  I'll let you know how it goes...
